The Aus Prix was created to change the landscape of ballet in Australia.
At the heart of it is lived experience.
Jacinta Ehlers (Ross) – former Principal Artist with the West Australian Ballet trained in Perth before being awarded a full scholarship to the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco. That opportunity led to a Prix de Lausanne cash prize and an exceptional international career.
She knows first-hand how one opportunity can change everything.
Nathan Coppen – former Principal Artist with the West Australian Ballet. Nathan also danced with the Australian Ballet, English National Ballet and The Royal Ballet and now Director of The Graduate College of Dance, brings decades of world-class experience to the next generation.
Did you know Nathan and Jacinta were dance partners with the West Australian Ballet – both Principal Artists! They shared the stage, the discipline, the pressure, and the reality of what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
Together with Rebecca Rossi, they saw a gap in the ballet industry taking note that there wasn’t a lot of opportunities for dancers in Australia and wanted to provide both National and International opportunities for dancers to learn from the best of the best, be seen and have the opportunity to perform.
From this the The Aus Prix was created.

We are incredibly proud of the opportunities we’ve already created for dancers through The Aus Prix, from being awarded over $500,000 in cash prizes and scholarship opportunities to date and full time training scholarships and direct entry opportunities to the top ballet schools in the world including Princess Grace Academy, American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, European School of Ballet, The Australian Ballet School, Vienna State Opera and The Rock School for Dance.
